The idea of Hume’s guillotine contains the argument that one cannot derive values from facts. As intelligent systems operate with facts, Hume’s famous dilemma seems to contradict the very idea of being able to create ethical intelligent systems. In a closer look, ethics is a system of rules guiding actions. Actions always have factual or cognitive aspects, as well as evaluative or emotional aspects. This paper focuses on improving network management by exploiting the potential of “doing” of the Active Networks technology, together with the potential of “planning,” which is typical of the artificial intelligent systems. Food memory and its relation with age and liking: An incidental learning experiment with children, young and elderly people

International audience; The present study compared incidental learning and food memory in children, young adults and elderly people for three sensory modalities (taste, texture and aroma). The relation of gender and liker-status (i.e. how much we like a product) with food memory was also investigated. International audience; As part of 'EduSens', a project aiming to measure the effect of a sensory education program developed in France on the food behaviour of school children, the present paper shows the results regarding neophobia. One hundred and eighty children (8-10 years old) were involved in the study. International audience; Object recognition or object's category recognition under varying conditions is one of the most astonishing capabilities of human visual system. The scientists in computer vision have been trying for decades to reproduce this ability by implementing algorithms and providing computers with appropriate tools. Hence, several intelligent systems have been proposed. To act in this field, numerous approaches have been proposed. In this paper we present an overview of the current trend in 3D objects recognition and describe some representative state of the art methods, highlighting their limits and complexity.
